JenRus Freelance Welcomes Three Interns to Its Summer Staff

JenRus Freelance is proud once again to welcome a group of interns to its summer staff. This year’s interns include Arturo Mendoza, Erica Sublett, and Cheneal Benne.

For the past several years, JenRus has been fortunate to host several Dane Hansen interns. This year’s Dane Hansen intern is Arturo Mendoza. An Arkansas City native, Mendoza is a senior at Fort Hays State University–concentrating in communications and organizational leadership. He has previous work experience in marketing and is looking forward to challenging himself and building relationships between organizations and their customers/publics.

“I am new to the north-central Kansas area, but I am excited to take on a new challenge of marketing rural Kansas Development,” Mendoza states. “As a native Kansan, I understand that smaller communities are the heart of our state and must be shown the same support that our much larger metropolitan areas have.”

Thanks to Dane Hansen, Mendoza will be working on various projects aimed at growth in Jewell and Republic County. The program places interns across northwest Kansas every summer and promotes development in these communities.

JenRus founder, Jewell County Community Development Coordinator, and summer intern supervisor, Jenny Russell, says, “The Dane G. Hansen Foundation internship program allows us to bring great talent to work on projects in Jewell and Republic County. This is the third year that we have been blessed with these positions. Arturo will be a great asset in assisting our team with marketing materials for Jewell and Republic County this summer.”

JenRus will also host a Nex Gen Round-Up For Youth intern. The Nex-Gen internship aims to educate north-central and northwest Kansas students about local career opportunities to foster a strong sense of community. This year’s intern is Erica Sublett. Born and raised in Courtland, she will be a senior at Pike Valley High School. Erica will primarily be assisting in creation, design, marketing, and packaging for A Little Hometown Shirt. Following graduation, Erica hopes to pursue a degree in either graphic design or marketing.

“I am super excited to be interning at JenRus Freelance Marketing through NexGen and look forward to learning the ropes of business planning and graphic design. I am thankful for the opportunity to work here this summer and learn new things every day!”

Lastly, JenRus is excited to have Cheneal Benne on board as its graphic design and web development intern. A 2019 graduate of Pike Valley High School, Benne will be a great asset in addressing community needs. She is a junior at McPherson College and is pursuing a dual degree in graphic design and art education. Benne states:

“I am grateful for the opportunity to be back in Courtland for the summer use my skills for the betterment of my home community. I am eager to learn under the guidance of the JenRus team and look forward to seeing my work come to life.”

Russell comments, “We look forward to working with these talented individuals and are excited about the diverse skill set they bring to our team. We are grateful to serve as mentors to them as they work towards their career goals.”
